Navigate the User Interface

Vendor Privileged Access Management (VPAM) is an Imprivata SaaS platform that enables you to receive secure support through remote connections, known as sessions.

VPAM 's User Interface is the first stop at using our SaaS platform.

This guide contains a quick introduction to the User Interface, detailing the high-level features you can encounter.

NOTE:

This guide is intended for VPAM System Administrators and Internal Users.

User Interface

The following image contains the first page you see after you Login to VPAM:

IMPORTANT:

System Administrators are the only user type that can access all features in the VPAM server. System Administrators must configure User Groups, Roles, and Departments to grant feature access to Internal Users.

The left-most navigation menu contains the main elements of your server. Depending on your role as System Administrator or Internal User, you will see the following items:

Applications Contains a list of all the applications in your VPAM server. Yes
Active Sessions Displays the current sessions (or connections) being handled by your server. Yes
Vendors Contains the configuration for your Third Party users. Yes
History Displays a list of the past sessions in the server. Yes
Vault Contains secrets and their configurations required during sessions. Yes
Tasks Contains the configurations for automated jobs for your server. Yes
Requests Displays all the requests you configured in your server. Yes
Reports Contains built-in and custom reports about your server. Yes
User Management Contains configurations for your Internal Users. Yes, but preferably reserve for System Admins
System Administration Contains server settings, including policies and logs. No. Reserved for System Admins.
NOTE:

Internal Users require a Role with additional permissions to view, create, edit, use, or manage some navigation menu items.

Depending on which navigation menu you select, the sub-navigation menu displays different granular actions you can perform within.

For example, in Applications menu shown, you can view the application list, configure services applications, and list the available gateways.

Some navigation menus do not have a sub-navigation menu.

Explore the User Interface to discover all available features.

After you select a navigation and sub-navigation menu, the action pane displays one of the following content types:

  • Lists

  • Forms

  • Creation or configuration workflows

The action pane enables you to view, create, edit, enable or disable, or delete assets in your server.

The available top settings in your server are:

Setting Description
Quick Connect Display the Quick Connect session menu to send a connection invitation to an email address. The System Administrator must enable Quick Connect sessions at the server-level for this button to appear.
Switch to Legacy UI Toggle between the current version of the UI and the Legacy version. The Legacy UI does not have features from version 25.1 or greater. Imprivata recommends you use the latest version of the UI.

Displays a drop-down menu with the following:

  • Downloads: Read the Installation page for more information.

  • About: Displays information about your server, including version and the server's time and timezone.

  • Help Docs: Directs you to this documentation portal.

  • Release Notes: Directs you to the Release Notes.

  • Imprivata Education: Request custom training for you and your team.

  • Report a Problem: Raise a ticket for our development team.
Profile

Displays the options to navigate to My Account or to Log Out of the server. The My Account page enables you to edit:

  • Details such as name and contact information

  • Preferences for connections and sessions

  • Authentication Methods

Legacy UI

The VPAM's Legacy User Interface is a previous version of the server. The Legacy UI is planned for deprecation during 2027.

BEST PRACTICE:

Imprivata recommends you use the latest version of the UI to get access to the latest features.

The Legacy UI contains three key sections:

Contains the high-level categories for actions you can take in the server.

2. Sub-Menus

Contains actions you can take within the top navigation menu items.

Displays lists, forms, and creation and configuration workflows.
