Any limitations are noted in the support details and notes section for each component, as well as version update policies for certain vendors. If a component is not listed, then its official status is "Not Supported".

Introduction

The Enterprise Access Management for MFA (EAM) suite includes the following products:

  • Clinical Workflows

  • EPCS

  • Medical Devices

  • Remote Access

Supported configuration information specific to each product in the EAM suite is presented first, followed by supported component information for the EAM suite as a whole.

The former category includes, for example, information on supported EMRs and authentication methods. The latter category includes, for example, information on supported virtual desktop access components.

Imprivata Agent Requirements

Item Support Information

G4 appliances require that Imprivata agents run on a currently maintained Imprivata agent version.

VMware virtual machines running supported operating systems.

VMware Fusion running supported operating systems.

 Support for USB authentication devices is limited to the USB support within the particular platform.

Imprivata Virtual Appliances

The following details virtual appliance support and system requirements:

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 7.10 introduced the General Availability (GA) release of the G4 appliances to all customers, including for G3 or G2 enterprise migrations to G4.

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 23.3 is the last release to support enterprise migrations from G2 to G4 appliances. For more information, see the Imprivata Upgrade help.

Unsupported

The following details unsupported virtual appliance configurations and management:

  • The cloning of appliance virtual machines is not supported.

  • Infrastructure-level snapshots of appliance virtual machines are not supported.

Considerations for Storage Level RAID Protection

While most customers will want to use RAID 5, Imprivata recommends RAID 1+0 or RAID 10 for any appliances which are experiencing a challenge with throughput.

IMPORTANT:

The number of appliances appropriate for a G4 enterprise depends on many factors, including user counts, authentication methods, and other issues.

G4 VMware System Requirements

VMware Snapshots are not supported by G4 appliances.

The following table details the minimum VMware system requirements for a G4 appliance. For detailed information on VMware virtual appliances in a G4 enterprise, see the Imprivata online help system.

  • Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 with the Hyper-V x64 role installed

  • CPU allocation:

    • Database appliance: 4 CPUs allocated

    • Service appliance: 2 CPUs allocated

G4 Appliances on Azure

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 23.2 and later releases support G4 service appliances and G4 database appliances on Azure.

G4 Appliance Basic Specifications on Azure

Imprivata G4 appliances deployed on Azure are based on the same software stack as Imprivata G4 appliances on premises. The appliances are deployed on your choice of the following two options available:

  • Azure F4s_v2 compute node (virtual machine) having four vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 300 GB of storage.

  • Azure F8s_v2 compute node (VM) having eight vCPUs, 16 GB RAM, and 300 GB of storage.

For both options, the Azure compute node manages swap space in an external resource disk.

IMPORTANT:

The number of appliances appropriate for a G4 enterprise depends on many factors, including user counts, authentication methods, and other issues.

Notes:

  • Conditional Support: Imprivata will attempt to identify root causes of issues. Fixes will be applied to current Confirm ID versions once full support for the Windows version is declared.

  • Known Issues with Windows 10

    • Microsoft has released a statement that Windows 10 version 1709 may cause crashes or other issues in some 32-bit applications. For more information, see this article. Confirm ID has 32-bit components. Microsoft does not yet have a permanent fix, and their workaround is to roll back Windows 10 to a previous version. Imprivata is working through this issue with Microsoft and will provide updates as they become available.

    • The Windows Automatic Redeployment feature is new to version 1709. We’re aware of an issue where the Imprivata agent may enable the Automatic Redeployment feature, thereby resetting the Windows 10 machine to its default settings. For additional information, including workaround, see this article.

    • When using Imprivata OneSign with McAfee Disk Encryption software and the McAfee agent on Windows 10 endpoints, Imprivata OneSign may crash, preventing the user from logging in. This issue occurs in Windows 10, including v1703, v1709, and v1803. To avoid this problem, disable Imprivata OneSign Credential Provider in Computer Policy or uninstall McAfee. McAfee Disk Encryption is not currently supported on Windows 10 endpoints.

  • Windows Metro UI is not supported

  • Endpoints not running an Imprivata agent are not supported

Authentication Methods

Imprivata Confirm ID can connect to external token servers using the RADIUS PAP protocol. In this scenario an Imprivata appliance will be the RADIUS client and will open a RADIUS connection to an external RADIUS host.

Only short lived RADIUS requests are supported. In this use case an OTP passcode optionally including a second factor is submitted to the external RADIUS host and validated promptly. We do not support longer RADIUS requests that stay open for seconds, as these can adversely affect the scalability of our server at higher loads. Longer RADIUS requests are typically used for Out Of Band authentication where the user needs to accept a notification on his/her phone or answer a phone call. Note that the workflow where a user accepts a notification on their phone (“push tokens”), is supported in conjunction with the Imprivata ID mobile application.

Imprivata ID

Imprivata supports the Imprivata ID app on iOS and Android devices.

The app is available only in English.

Known issue:

  • For Omnissa Horizon 8 2111 on Teradici thin clients, Imprivata is aware of a known issue after an upgrade of Omnissa Horizon Agent from 2106 to 2111. When tapping out of a session, the session is no longer disconnected, however the desktop is locked. This affects PCoIP clients.

    The newer Horizon Agent 8.4 utilizes a 64-bit version of PCoIP that may not be loading correctly. Add the following key to your registry:

    1. Create the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Teradici\VChan\Plugins\OneSignVC

    2. Under key OneSignVC create the following String Value entry:

  • For Omnissa Horizon 8 2203, Imprivata is aware of a known issue with ProveID Embedded on HP ThinPro endpoints, where the user is not logged in directly to the VDI session from the ProveID Embedded login screen.   • For 8 2203, Imprivata is aware of a known issue with ProveID Embedded on HP ThinPro endpoints, where the user is not logged in directly to the VDI session from the ProveID Embedded login screen.
