Any limitations are noted in the support details and notes section for each component, as well as version update policies for certain vendors. If a component is not listed, then its official status is "Not Supported".

Imprivata Agent Requirements

Supported component Support Information

G4 appliances require that Imprivata agents run on a currently maintained Imprivata agent version.

VMware virtual machines running supported operating systems.

MS Hyper-V

 Support for USB authentication devices is limited to the USB support within the particular platform.

Imprivata Virtual Appliances

The following details virtual appliance support and system requirements:

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 7.10 introduced the General Availability (GA) release of the G4 appliances to all customers, including for G3 or G2 enterprise migrations to G4.

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 23.3 was the last release to support enterprise migrations from G2 to G4 appliances. For more information, see the Imprivata Upgrade help.

Unsupported

The following details unsupported virtual appliance configurations and management:

  • The cloning of appliance virtual machines is not supported.

  • Infrastructure-level snapshots of appliance virtual machines are not supported.

Considerations for Storage Level RAID Protection

While most customers will want to use RAID 5, Imprivata recommends RAID 1+0 or RAID 10 for any appliances which are experiencing a challenge with throughput.

IMPORTANT:

The number of appliances appropriate for a G4 enterprise depends on many factors, including user counts, authentication methods, and other issues.

G4 VMware System Requirements

VMware Snapshots are not supported by G4 appliances.

The following table details the minimum VMware system requirements for a G4 appliance. For detailed information on VMware virtual appliances in a G4 enterprise, see the Imprivata online help system.

    • 300 GB of space is required to deploy the virtual disk file (.vmdk) that is used by the appliance.

    • 8 GB of space is required for the virtual machine swap file (.vswp) created by the hypervisor when you power on the appliance.

  • 8 GB of allocated memory

  • Thin provisioning is allowed
Demo and POC environments

  • Thin provisioning is allowed (approximately 24GB initial disk size).

  • A separate domain controller for the demo environment, so you can practice security policies in the demo environment before performing them in the production environment.

G4 Microsoft Hyper–V System Requirements

The following list details the minimum Microsoft Hyper–V system requirements for a G4 appliance. For detailed information on Microsoft Hyper-V virtual appliances in a G4 enterprise, see the Imprivata online help system.

  • Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 with the Hyper-V x64 role installed

  • CPU allocation:

    • Database appliance: 4 CPUs allocated

    • Service appliance: 2 CPUs allocated

  • 308 GB of total available disk space is required in the hypervisor to create and power on the appliance.

    • 300 GB of space is required to deploy the virtual disk file (.vhd) that is used by the appliance.

G4 Nutanix System Requirements

The following list details the minimum Nutanix system requirements for a G4 appliance. For detailed information on Nutanix virtual appliances in a G4 enterprise, see the Imprivata online help system.

  • Nutanix AHV 5.10 LTS.

  • Nutanix AHV 5.15 LTS.

  • CPU allocation:

    • Database appliance: 4 CPUs allocated.

    • Service appliance: 2 CPUs allocated

  • 308 GB of total available disk space is required in the hypervisor to create and power on the appliance.

    • 300 GB of space is required to deploy the virtual disk file (.vmdk) that is used by the appliance.

    • 8 GB of space is required for the virtual memory for powering on the appliance in the hypervisor.

  • 8 GB of allocated memory.

  • Hyperthreading is allowed.

G4 Appliances on Azure

  • Imprivata Enterprise Access Management 24.1 and later releases support G4 service appliances and database appliances on Azure.

G4 Appliance Basic Specifications on Azure

Imprivata G4 appliances deployed on Azure are based on the same software stack as Imprivata G4 appliances on premises. The appliances are deployed on your choice of the following two options available:

  • Azure F4s_v2 compute node (virtual machine) having four vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 300 GB of storage.

  • Azure F8s_v2 compute node (VM) having eight vCPUs, 16 GB RAM, and 300 GB of storage.

For both options, the Azure compute node manages swap space in an external resource disk.

IMPORTANT:

Desktop Experience Docking Solutions

Partners are designing docking solutions to allow Android hardware to be used with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for a desktop-like experience.

  • These docking solutions must be separately qualified from Android hardware or partner software applications to make sure Imprivata is still able to secure the device and authenticate users.

  • Imprivata requires customers to test all mobile software applications they plan on using with both Imprivata MDA and the partner's docking solution. Applications previously certified to work with Imprivata MDA independently are not automatically certified to work with both Imprivata MDA and the docking solutions together.
