Services
Vendor Privileged Access Management (VPAM) services refer to an application's access scope and functionality. Services can be applications (software systems), web servers, or database servers. Configuring services in an application enables your vendors and users to perform essential support tasks, such as querying a database table, transfer files, run terminal commands, or log in to a server via Telnet. Managing services requires you to have administrator role or similar permissions.
This page contains information on how to add services to an application and the available services in your VPAM server.
To learn how to connect to a service, read the Sessions documentation.
Adding a Service
You can only add services to already existing applications. To add a service to an application:
-
Open the application where you want to add a service.
-
Access the Edit Host and Services page.
Depending on your server's version, you can access the Edit Services page by:
-
Version 25.1+: Click the Host and Services tab of the View Application page.
-
Previous Versions: Click Edit Services on the top of the View Application page.
From this page, you can do the following:
-
Version 25.1+:
-
Add Host and Services: Click Add Host and Services, specify the host name or IP, and add services.
-
Edit Host: Modify the host details.
-
Add Service: Create new services to the host.
-
Edit Service: Open the service drop-down, click Edit Service, and modify the service's configuration.
-
-
Previous Versions:
-
Add a new host: Click Add New Host, specify the host name or IP, and add services.
-
Edit the existing hosts: Click Add New Port to include other services or click Edit to modify the existing services' ports and configuration.
-
On these pages, you can also disable services and delete hosts and services.

When you create or edit a service, you must specify the port and default local port to ensure functionality of the service. During the configuration, you can select Required Local Port to use a virtual network to connect to that service.
Read the Containerized Networks Feature Documentation for more information on how to configure and employ this feature.
Available Services
Your VPAM server already has available services that you can add to your applications. Administrators of the VPAM server can view, add, and modify the global settings of the VPAM server's applications. To do these, as an administrator:
-
Open the System Admin tab of your VPAM server.
-
Click the Services menu.
The system displays a list of all the services.
From this page, administrators can:
-
Add a new service by clicking Add.
-
View the details of a service by clicking View on the service.
-
Edit the service's server-level configuration by clicking Edit on the View Service page.
-
Delete the service at a server-level by clicking Delete on the Edit Service page.
