Gatekeepers
In VPAM, the Gatekeeper software system enables you to define hosts and services (an application) that vendor representatives can access to provide remote and secure support. Gatekeepers enable vendors to access built-in services for the system where the Gatekeeper is installed. Vendors can access a Gatekeeper-managed application without a Gateway and you can always move Gatekeeper applications to an existing Gateway.
This page contains information about the Gatekeeper software system available in your VPAM server.
Create a Gatekeeper
In VPAM, you cannot directly create a Gatekeeper. Gatekeepers are created when you create an application that you want to manage through a Gatekeeper. You must have administrator role or a role with administrator permissions to continue. To create a Gatekeeper-managed application:
-
Open the Applications page in your Administrator Console.
-
Click Add New Application.
-
Select Create a Gatekeeper-managed application or select Gatekeeper as the application management type.
-
Complete the Gatekeeper form
Ensure that you select the operating system where you will install the Gatekeeper. -
Click Save.
After you save the Gatekeeper-managed application, the system displays the process to install and register the Gatekeeper. You can download the Gatekeeper directly to the system where you created the application or share the Gatekeeper download page to the system where you want to install it.

To install the Gateway's Gatekeeper in the system you used to create the Gateway:
-
Copy and safe-keep the registration code.
This registration code is essential for the next process! -
Locate the distribution you want to use: Windows or Linux.
-
For Windows, your browser downloads an installation wizard that you can run and install automatically.
-
For Linux, the Linux installation instructions open on another tab.
-
-
Complete the installation and continue to the register process.

To install the Gateway's Gatekeeper on a different system:
-
Copy and safe-keep the registration code.
This registration code is essential for the next process! -
Copy the link to the downloads page.
-
Share the link to the computer where you want to install the Gateway.
-
Follow the download and installation process for the current system.

After you install your Gateway's Gatekeeper in the target computer:
-
Open your preferred browser.
-
Open the following address:
localhost:4680
-
Paste the registration code.
-
Select Allow registration to self-signed servers.
-
Submit the registration code.
Move the Gatekeeper
At any point, you can move the Gatekeeper-managed application to an existing Gateway. By moving the Gatekeeper-managed application, you will submit the application to the access defined by the Gateway. To move a Gatekeeper:
-
Open the Applications page.
-
Select the Gatekeeper-managed application.
-
Select the option to Move Application to a Gateway.
-
Select the Gateway where you want to move the application.
-
Click Save.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue during the download, installation, and registry process , consider the following:

Copy the registration code.
If the registration code does not appear, click Reset. The system provides a new registration code for the Gatekeeper. -
Open the
localhost:4680
address on the system where you installed the Gatekeeper. -
Submit the new registration code.
Remember to select Allow registration to self-signed servers.

If you followed the installation and registration processes, but your Gatekeeper appears offline, do the following:
-
From the
localhost:4680
address, click Help. -
Select Connectivity Test.

The system provides a new registration code for the Gatekeeper. -
Re-open the
localhost:4680
address on the system where you installed the Gatekeeper. -
Submit the new registration code.
Remember to select the Allow registration to self-signed servers.
