History
All connections to Applications and Services are recorded in real-time in the Vendor Privileged Access Management History section. From History you can track who accessed which services and when, including detailed information such as individual file names transferred over FTP.
Activity
The My Connection History report lists the sessions you've connected to, filtered to show only your user’s activity. It displays the same data as the Connection History report but is personalized to your user account.
To view all sessions, click Connection History. This will show a full session history for all accessible applications within your user group.
The report includes the most recent 100 sessions for all users. To view additional sessions beyond this, click Next Page .
Each session contains the following details:
- Session Start and Duration: Displays the start date and duration of the session. If the session is still active, it will be labeled as Active.
- Owner: The user ID of the person who created the session.
- Session Vendors: The vendor's name, or the number of vendors involved if multiple vendors participated in the session.
- Session Vendor Representatives: The name(s) of the vendor representatives, or the total count if there were multiple representatives.
- Application Name: The name of the customer’s application associated with the session.

Audit Logs
The VPAM server can be configured to capture detailed audit logs for services such as FTP transfers, SSH sessions, Telnet sessions, and Desktop Sharing.
When audit information is available for a service, the option to view it appear in the Audit Logs section.

If Desktop Sharing logs are available, click Audit Logs to convert the log data into a movie. The conversion process will differ depending on the service and server version in use at the time of the audit:
-
For the Movie Options dialog, select a file type and initiate the conversion. A file chooser will open; choose the location to save the movie and click Save. The conversion may take several minutes for longer sessions. This process is supported only on Windows systems. To play the video immediately after conversion, select launch the video after saving.
-
For the RDP converter dialog, select one or both of the options to convert. The conversion will start on the server and may take several minutes for long sessions. Once completed, a Download option will appear. The user who initiated the conversion will receive a notification both in their browser and by email.
Admin Logs
The Admin Logs section is accessible only to System Admins. It provides an overview of system-level messages and high-level user activity on the VPAM server. By default, the logs are sorted in descending order by date (with the most recent messages listed first). Each log entry includes the following details:
Admin Log Property | Description |
---|---|
Time | The time stamp that the event / message was generated |
User ID | The User responsible for generating the message. |
Method | Either a noun like DEBUG, INFO, ERROR (System Messages only), or a verb like CREATE, UPDATE, or DELETE (usually from User Activity). |
Object Type | A tag that indicates the type of object or event that this messages is associated with, such as User or Vendor. |
Object Key | The key is generally the system-wide unique identifier for the object associated with the message. |
Extra Info | Human-readable note containing further details about the log message. |

System messages are generated by the VPAM server and are not linked to any specific user. As a result, the User ID column is not included in the System Messages list. These messages provide details on system logins, login failures, debug information, password resets, and Desktop Sharing video recording management.

The User Activity section of the Admin Logs helps track changes made by users and system admins to system objects, such as applications. While the Connection History reports show actions taken by vendors and users during their application sessions, the User Activity section provides details on when users or admins modify system-level components.
Audit Reliability
While VPAM can generally capture audit details for every session, certain factors—such as security settings, service configurations, or network limitations—may prevent the capture of detailed audit information for some services. If you have any questions, please contact the VPAM team.
