Configuring the Symantec Connection
Before Symantec VIP Credentials can be enrolled, you need to configure the connection between Imprivata and Symantec.
Enabling Firewall Access to the Symantec Cloud Server
CAUTION: If your network firewall prohibits outbound HTTPS access, enable outbound HTTPS access for all appliances so they can contact the Symantec Cloud Server.
Uploading the Symantec VIP Credential Certificate to the Imprivata Appliance
- In the Symantec VIP manager, go to Account > Manage VIP Certificates.
- Click Request a Certificate. Follow Symantec's instructions to request and download a certificate.
CAUTION: Select the PKCS#12 encryption format for this certificate.
Also, before you download the certificate from Symantec, you are required to create a password. You will need this password to upload the certificate to the Imprivata appliance.
- In the Imprivata Admin Console, go to the Devices menu > Configure Symantec VIP Credentials page.
- In the Symantec VIP Credentials section, click Upload a new certificate or Browse to select the Symantec VIP Credential certificate you downloaded.
- Enter the encryption password.
- Click OK.
CAUTION: The username@domain format prevents conflicts between multiple domains with the same username in one enterprise. However:
- If your enterprise already uses Symantec VIP credentials, and
- You want your users to use their existing VIP tokens for EPCS workflows, and
- Your VIP users are configured as username instead of username@domain
Then you must make a selection here to prevent these users from being counted twice toward your VIP user total.
In the section Username format, select username. After you click Save, this selection cannot be undone.
- Click Save.
