Configure Samsung DeX

With Samsung DeX, users can dock their Samsung device and connect it via USB to an external screen or monitor, creating a desktop workstation. When it connects to the monitor, the Samsung DeX app will respect the MDA lock screen.

Workflow

  • When the device is docked and connected to Samsung DeX, and MDA is locked, the Imprivata MDA lock screen is displayed on the monitor.

  • When the device is docked and connected to Samsung DeX, and MDA becomes locked due to inactivity, the monitor will also be locked until MDA is unlocked.

  • Samsung DeX is available for guest users.

Prerequisites

Take note of the following prerequisites:

  • Imprivata MDA 8.1 and later

  • Samsung devices running Android 13 or later.

Configure the MDM AppConfig for Samsung DeX

NOTE:

This feature is configured via the AppConfig using an MDM. See the Imprivata MDA AppConfig Reference for supported MDM AppConfig keys.

To configure support for Samsung DeX, add the following key to AppConfig in your MDM:

  • The AppConfig Configuration Key field for this feature is "ConfigFlags".

  • The AppConfig Value Type for this feature is "String".

  • The AppConfig Value is DexControlOn - Allows Imprivata MDA to use Samsung DeX functionality.
