Service Profiles
Service Profiles enable administrators to create reusable collections of services that apply to
Service Profile Types
Administrators can create Service Profiles for specific teams, applications, or support workflows.
Examples include:
Gatekeeper Service Profiles are operating-system-specific templates that administrators use when creating or managing Gatekeepers.
Common examples include:
-
Windows
-
UNIX/Linux
These profiles typically contain built-in services and commonly used services for the selected platform.
Administrators can designate a Gatekeeper Service Profile as the default profile for newly created Gatekeepers.
For more information on how to create a Gatekeeper Service Profile, see Creating a Gatekeeper Service Profile.
Standard Service Profiles are not tied to a specific operating system.
Examples include:
Database Profile
-
Microsoft SQL Server
-
SSH
Network Operations Profile
-
SSH
-
SCP
-
SFTP
Web Administration Profile
-
HTTPS
-
SSH

Managing Services Within a Profile
Administrators can add, edit, enable, disable, or remove services directly from a profile.

-
Open the Service Profile.
-

Administrators can disable a service without removing it from the profile.
How administrators disable the service depends on the service type:
-
For built-in services, administrators disable the service.
-
For custom services, administrators disable the port associated with the service.
Disabled services remain configured in the profile but are unavailable until an administrator re-enables them.
To permanently remove a service:
-
Open the Service Profile.
-
Locate the service.
-
Select Delete Service.
-
Confirm the deletion.
The system removes the service from the profile immediately.
Built-In Services
Administrators cannot delete built-in services from a profile. However, administrators can enable or disable them as needed.
Default Gatekeeper Service Profiles
Administrators can designate one Gatekeeper Service Profile as the default profile.
Newly created Gatekeepers use the default profile automatically. Administrators cannot delete the default profile.
Best Practices
Imprivata recommends that administrators:
-
Create standard profiles for common support workflows.
-
Use descriptive profile names.
-
Minimize duplicate profiles whenever possible.
-
Review profile contents periodically to remove obsolete services.
-
Use default Gatekeeper Service Profiles to standardize onboarding procedures.
